Thanks to J’s offer of a last-minute ticket when we were both at Kevin and Mary’s basement warming bash on Saturday, I was able to go to the sold-out Corb Lund gig at The Whiskey last night. I was also able to get my 30D in, and get a handful of decent photos (but I actually took 180 - it’s the Ten Percent Rule, or a little less).
Corb put on a great show, but the place was packed. Almost as packed as when the Black Eyed Peas played there almost four years ago. That, combined with our arriving just before he took the stage, meant that a good vantage point was impossible. Still, I’m not unhappy with the results. J did have to come to my rescue at the end of the night, since he knows Corb and his management, when security questioned my “professional” camera.
It would have been nice to hang around after the show - J had some passes for the after-show shenanigans - but it was a school night and as it was, I didn’t get to bed until 1:30. That makes for a damn early morning, and I need my beauty sleep. As it turned out, I slept in anyway, so I can only imagine how late I would’ve arrived at work had I partaken. Partook?

All that in under 3-1/2 hours. I’d say it was fairly streamlined.

I really thought this might be Johnny’s year, but DD-L was just too favoured (obviously).

Well, bringing Marketa Irglova back out so she could get her chance to speak was pretty damn cool.

OK, totally annoyed now that I’m aware they’re just chopping off the widescreen (HD) video to make it a standard-def frame.

Jack’s looking good - he’s lost quite a bit of weight. And that song that was just performed, Once, is now my pick.

Unexpected (to me) wins in both actress categories.
